In Bollywood, we have consistently perceived how the makers attempt to encash on this ongoing trend. Since the most recent couple of years, biopics are popular and the makers are trying every possibility to satisfy that need.

The audience likes watching real-life stories being depicted on the big screens. And we have a humongous list of inspiring personalities in our country. The stories of the extraordinary journey of these ordinary people surely make for an incredible subject.

In the coming months, we are going to be hit with some truly heart-touching stories as there are a lot more biopics coming our way in the ongoing future.

Here is the rundown of 9 upcoming biopics-

 

1. Chhapaak

 

'Chhapaak' is a real-life story portraying the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. The film is directed by Meghna Gulzar and Deepika Padukone will play the character of Laxmi. The film also stars Vikrant Massey, who will be seen pairing with Deepika. The film will be based on the struggles of Laxmi and how she defeated everything with her courage.

 

2. 83

 

'83' movie is directed by Kabir Khan and it is based on the historic win of the Indian cricket team in 1983 World Cup. The film will also showcase the journey of veteran cricketer Kapil Dev. The role of Kapil Dev will be played by Ranveer Singh and his better half Deepika Padukone will play the role of Romi Bhatia (wife of Kapil Dev).

 

3. Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw biopic

 

This biopic is based on the life of first Field Marshall India- Sam Manekshaw. He was the first Indian officer who was promoted for the post of Field Marshall. Vicky Kaushal will be in the lead role, under the direction of Meghna Gulzar.

 

4. Shakuntala Devi Biopic

 

Shakuntala Devi was known as the human-computer of the country. The math wizard was discovered when at the age of 5 she solved math problems for 18-year-olds. Vidya Balan will be playing the role of the math genius on screen.

 

5. Ma Anand Sheela Biopic

 

Popular from the Netflix series ‘ Wild Wild Country’, Ma Anand Sheela was the right hand to Osho. Priyanka Chopra will be playing Sheela in the Hollywood film, which is directed by Barry Levinson. Sheela shared in an interview that she wants Alia to play her role if a Bollywood version of this biopic happens ever.

 

6. Gunjan Saxena – The Kargil Girl

 

India’s first women Air Force pilot ever is Gunjan Saxena. She also helped in the Kargil War in 1999 to evacuate the soldiers. Janhvi Kapoor will play the character of Gunjan in the movie. Pankaj Tripathi will play her father, her mother’s role is given to Neena Gupta and Angad Bedi will be her brother in the film. The film is directed by Sharan Sharma.

 

7. PV Sindhu Biopic

 

According to PV Sindhu, Deepika Padukone will be the best choice for her biopic as she already plays badminton and is an outstanding actor too. PV Sindhu is one of the most popular Badminton players who has earned medals and fame for the nation in the World Championship.

 

8. Shershaah

 

'Shershaah' will portray the life of Captain Vikram Batra who was also part of the Kargil War in 1999. He was rewarded with Param Veer Chakra. 'Shershaah' casts Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani as the protagonists in the film. The biopic is produced under the Dharma Productions banner.

 

9. Saina Nehwal Biopic

 

Earlier the role for the biopic of expert badminton champion of our nation Saina Nehwal was to be played by Shraddha Kapoor, but now Parineeti Chopra has replaced her. She has won so many medals on national and international levels.
